The life and death of a bird

Once upon a time, on the top of a high mountain in Venice, there lived an old wise man. As for how old he is and why there is so much wisdom, no one knows. It's just rumored that he can answer any question from anyone.

There is a naughty little boy who doesn't take it for granted. He even thought he could fool the wise man, so he caught a bird and went to him. The little boy grabbed the bird in his palm and asked the old man with a smirk: "It says you can answer any questions raised by anyone, so please tell me, is this bird alive or dead?"

The old man thought for a while, he fully understood the child’s intentions, and said without hesitation: "My child, if I say that this bird is alive, you will pinch it to death immediately. If I say that it is dead, You will let it fly away. Look, child, the life and death of this bird is up to you!"

   [Successful interpretation]

The wise man gave us this enlightenment: Everyone’s future and destiny are like a bird in his hand. Success or failure and sorrow and happiness are completely in their own hands.
